Summer internship program

Summer Internship Program??

The question mark just seems getting bigger.

while something seems good something somewhere definitely is going wrong. the question is what? where? why?

Just read a mail by one student saying he is getting bored while another says its been a great learning experience! why such contradictory thoughts?

is it got to do with the expectations of the students? if i enter a org thinking that i have a work ex of 4 yrs and then end up doing a sales job will my ego be hurt? will i appreciate it? cant students consider any project as a good project? why do students have expectations and enter an organization for an internship? what if these expectations are not met?

Or is it something to do with the timing of the SIP? is feb too early for orgs to be prepared to attend to 4000+ mgmt trainees from this chain of B school all over India? dont orgs have enough projects? if they dont why did they hire us? why do 8 out of 10 students end up making questionnaires and surveys? why cant the extended SIP period be put to good use? why doesnt the school communicate well with corporates to get good projetcs?

or is it something to do with the management at college? dont they hunt for good projects and not just good companies? dont they ask the companies to have a project detail in hand? dont the think about the students thru a students perspective?

or is it the organizations fault? did they make dreamy projects and take up interns? or were they forced to take in students by some personal contacts? or did they have a sudden restructuring and the HR recruiter has left the org? or have they thrown shit on some students by recruiting them and then denying the same on the date of report? do they actually practise any responsibility? do they care for the probable employees?

or is it the numbers at the college? but wasnt that supposed to be the strength of the org? why havent they been able to tap the immense diversity that no B school in india can boast of? why is that some worthy students feel miserably let down and some students jump with joy with the kind work they get?

or is the system to be blamed? why is it so rigid? why is it that no suggestions can ever go up the hierarchy? why does it have to be the way they like it every single time? why cant suggestions be treated as suggestions? or rather why cant there be suggestions?

why is what it where, why and what boil down into?

a why? which is bigger than the question mark next to it.

Hey Koka!
This is the first of ur blogs that I've read (shameless, hopeless, I know)!
What ur talking about is something I personally can't relate to, but when I recall my conversations with a score of our batchmates, I understand WHY your asking what ur asking.
I think that as u said, it's the students who have too many expectations from this entire exercise. I think it is upto us to make the most of what we have and extract new learnings from each task that is assigned to us.
Also, I feel it would do each student much more good if this internship is more like a training program (like mine is), than individual projects given to students. I personally, am finding it very very beneficial!
All the Best!

it is all becoz disiz India where a tm span of 3 months isnt considered a tm span gud enuff to do sm fruitful wrk. the genes of tapism n 3 maheeney mey kya hoga ! one liners are wat ruin d show
in the west it's thro' these short projects dat talents are harnessed, ppl trained, attitudes developed. maybe all parties mentioned need to b a little more serious abt sm thng (dat though fr a short span)is very serious. if nine months is gud enuff to be a gestation period, cm on 3 months happens to b one third of it.....
think abt it!
